Quip Shed Comedy is excited to be back at Linden House in Hammersmith throughout 2024!

For our second show of the year, we have Edinburgh preview shows from Sophie Duker and Nic Sampson!

Sophie Duker is a comedian and writer whose favourite things include breaking hearts, taking names and telling jokes with the confidence of a cis straight middle-class white man. Her Edinburgh Fringe Show, Venus, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer award and gained critical acclaim and five star reviews, leading to a two week sold out run at Soho Theatre.

Sophie is a regular guest on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC2). She has appeared on Live at The Apollo (BBC2), Mock the Week (BBC2), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and Hypothetical (Dave). Sophie is the winner of the 13th series of Taskmaster (Channel 4).

Other appearances include 8 Out of 10 Cats (E4), Don’t hate the Playaz (ITV2), Dave Gorman’s Terms and Conditions Apply (Dave), and Jonathan Ross’ Comedy Club (ITV). She can also be seen in Riot Girls and BiscuitLand (Channel 4), Quickies (BBC3), Guessable (Comedy Central), The News Quiz (Radio 4), Roast Battle (Comedy Central), The Last Leg (Channel 4), Hypothetical (Dave), Mel Giedroyc’s: Unforgivable (UKTV), CelebAbility (ITV), Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back (Channel 4) and Blankety Blank (BBC1).

Sophie won the 2021 Funny Women Best Comedy Writer Award, as voted by producers, head writers and executives across the industry. She was one eight comedians selected to be a part of Just For Laughs’ International New Faces line up for the 2022 Festival.

Sophie is also the host of the monthly comedy night, Wacky Racists Comedy Club and the host of the official TV companion podcast to I May Destroy You (BBC), Obsessed With… I May Destroy You on BBC Sounds.

Nic Sampson is a comedian, actor, improviser and writer originally from New Zealand.

As an actor, Nic portrayed popular character D.C. Sam Breen in New Zealand detective drama The Brokenwood Mysteries, which airs in 17 countries including the UK, where it is one of UKTV’s most successful programmes. He has also appeared in the BBC3/HBO Max series Starstruck and featured in films including Netflix’s The Breaker Upperers and Baby, Done, which was executive produced by Taika Waititi. He previously played the Yellow Ranger in Disney’s Power Rangers: Mystic Force.

Nic is one of the co-writers of BBC3/HBO Max’s Starstruck and is a writer on the Internationally Emmy Award-winning short series Inside. Previously, Nic was a core writer and performer on the New Zealand sketch series Funny Girls for TV3. In New Zealand, he was head writer for the weekly topical comedy show Jono and Ben. Nic is a co-creator of the sitcom Golden Boy and has written episodes of The Brokenwood Mysteries.

At the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, Nic won Best Newcomer in 2014, then returned the following year earning a nomination for the Billy T Award which recognises New Zealand comedians with oustanding potential. The next year his show was nominated for Best New Zealand Show (Fred Award), the highest honour at the festival, making him one of the fastest rising stand-ups in New Zealand.

Aside from his solo stand-up, Nic is a founding member of the acclaimed improvised comedy collective SNORT, who have been selling out weekly live shows since 2013 and recently had a TV version of the show air on New Zealand’s TV3.
